Golf Trivia! What is the difference between " Best Ball" and "Captain's Choice". I played golf last week with a very good golfer who shared this useful piece of information with me. Does anyone know? Please post answers in [Add comment] section under this article. Thanks Rob
I played nine great holes of golf with my good friend Todd today. After making a serious slice with my driver from the tee on the seventh hole it was brought to my attention that my alignment was badly off. After hitting a second drive which yielded the same result even though my feet were properly aligned with the target line,
Here are another series of drills and tips for those of you who are having trouble with chipping. Zachary Allen wrote an article in Golf Tips Magazine entitled "Chip Control" that shares some very useful information. I have always been aware of the usual chip shot tips like "placing the ball back in the stance, leaning the shaft and your weight forward, keeping your backswing shorter and accelerate through the shot" and so on. But some of these drills and tips like "looking at the target for the entire swing" instead of the ball, "hold[ing] the club in your right hand, place[ing] the ball in the middle of your stance, open[ing] the face and keep[ing] the shaft vertical" for hitting higher loft shots, keep[ing] [the right] elbow relatively stiff [to] limit the length of my backswing" I had not been familiar with. Take a look at his article Chip Control it could be quite useful in identifying some issues that his drills might rectify.
Here is an article I came across yesterday on Golf Tips Magazine by Jeff Ritter on how to cure your slice. After seeing a few of his videos on this site that helped me a great deal I decided to share his article with the community. I wrestle constantly between an upright and a more flattened swing plane. I have a relatively weak grip and on impact I am guilty of squeezing the grip too tightly for fear of the club leaving my hands. Being 6'-4" my posture tends to be rather upright and yes I do manage to slice the ball quite frequently. I didn't realise that standing too upright and squeezing the club tightly could also contribute to slicing. Here are some useful tips on how to cure your slice.
Since purchasing my 20 degree #3 hybrid over a year ago I put my #5 iron in retirement because I had so much trouble hitting it. I came across an iron drill video by David Leadbetter on Youtube that reminded me about keeping my hands on impact ahead of the ball. I think after re-evaluating my swing I was releasing on impact pre-maturely. I retrieved my #5 out of retirement and started practicing with it again using his tips. The results were amazing. The first video is with David and the iron drill entitled "Great Iron Play".
