Golf Trivia! What is the difference between " Best Ball" and "Captain's Choice". I played golf last week with a very good golfer who shared this useful piece of information with me. Does anyone know? Please post answers in [Add comment] section under this article. Thanks Rob |

I played nine great holes of golf with my good friend Todd today. After making a serious slice with my driver from the tee on the seventh hole it was brought to my attention that my alignment was badly off. After hitting a second drive which yielded the same result even though my feet were properly aligned with the target line,

Ryan, one of the gentlemen I work with at the course shared a few tips with me today regarding the golf ball's lie above or below your feet since I was having trouble with the ball's straight flight. I was always told to choke up on the club when the ball's lie was above my feet, he added that moving the ball back in the stance beyond center (in some cases closer to the back foot's heel) would help with it going straight. He also shared that when the ball's lie was below the feet to open the width of the stance. Thanks Ryan I'll try it and get back to you. Following are two videos that also shed some light with this ball lie situation.

Got a really interesting tip one Sunday from Tom at the golf course. He said that "when you hit the ball at 4 o'clock it keeps your swing on the inside which makes you hit the ball straighter than 3 or 2 o'clock". What this means is, if you position the ball on the ground where the target line runs thru the 12 to 6 o'clock axis (using the numbers on a clock face for orientation) and your club makes contact with the ball on the 4 o"clock position you will hit the ball straighter than hitting the ball on the 3 or 2 o'clock location. Thanks Tom. |

I just love the links to Wikipedia for more informaiton on golf. I've been trying to learn more about it since my husband is constantly playing or talking about the game. I found a link to the glossary of terms and while I have skipped around to learn terms I've heard him use, I've been working on learning a term a day when I can.
I think you should also put a link to the glossary in your Wikipedia links section. I've found it very helpful and I'm sure others would too. |
