I played nine great holes of golf with my good friend Todd today. After making a serious slice with my driver from the tee on the seventh hole it was brought to my attention that my alignment was badly off. After hitting a second drive which yielded the same result even though my feet were properly aligned with the target line,
Todd explained that my shoulders were not aligned (they were open) resulting in my coming across the ball creating that slice. I was under the impression that being aligned related to feet, not shoulders, and as awkward as it felt in trying to continuously keep my shoulders square, it made such a difference that the results were immediate and amazing. Dropping my left shoulder (being a lefty) helped a great deal in keeping my right shoulder square and from becoming open when I setup. I also applied that advice to my hybrid and irons which not only created more accuracy but kept my swing tempo nice and easy. Thanks Todd.
