Lately I have been wearing head phones while playing golf to maintain my focus. If playing with someone I will listen to something instrumental so i can still hear the conversation and when playing by myself i may listen to something that has words. The key to focusing is to play the same CD over and over so it gets you and keeps you in the zone.

I use my headphones when playing golf and my wife says it could be perceived as being rude, but it also makes me focus when listening to a little smooth jazz. Last week my mp3 player was acting up on the front nine and my concentration was off and it was if I had never held a club before, my game was so bad. I was able to use a rubber band and secure the headphone jack properly which was the issue and I shot a 40 on the back nine, my best score to date. i was on fire. I agree great advice.
