Golfbytez.com would like to congratulate Mr. Vince Biser for the achievement of a lifetime in winning the 9th Annual North American One-Armed Golfer Championships. Vince is a very special golfer witha remarkable story. He is a young man withcerebral palsy and has lost the use of his right hand. According to Merriam-Webster cerebral palsy is "a disability resulting from damage to the brain before, during, or shortly after birth and outwardly manifested by muscular incoordination." Vince is a gentle soul but! make no mistake he hits the ball a mile and I mean A Mile. He has an amazingly "smooth, graceful left-hand backhanded swing that allows him to maintain his impressive 8 handicap" as shared with us by NAOAGA's press release.
John Barton editorilaised highlights of the very exciting tournament finals with us which we would like to share with you: "I can tell you that on the final match play afternoon, once again Mother Nature wanted to be a competitor and we had over an hour delay when after hitting their tee shots on hole #9 the four finalists had to mark their balls and clear the course because of lightning. Shortly after 5:30 pm they were able to resume play and it couldn't have been more exciting. This years unassisted division was fought between a long time member and a relative newcomer and player who has captured the hearts of all that watch him play. Young Mr. Vince Biser of Baltimore, Md., whose only goal this year was to make it into the match play quarter finals, took on Mr. David Hensley of Georgia (a solid grinder and 2008 Fightmaster cup team member). This match ended on the infamous 17th hole when Vince's tee shot landed 2 feet from the pin and David's tee shot found water. This gave Vince the round 3 and 1."
Take a look at Vince on the practice range at Mondays' players special exhibition that was entitled "Beating the odds to win". Vince, let it rip!
"The assisted division was equally hard fought and was decided on hole #14 when Mr. John Trenchik of New York defeated Mr. Steve Day of Indiana 5 and 4."

Here are other golf course moments from Mondays official practice round:
Steve (l) seen above getting out of trouble by the cart-path and his wife Lisa (r) taking her backswing near the edge of the grass land.
Dennis was wearing a special attachment made to grip the club which gives him greater control with his swing. Dennis plays in the "assisted" division because of this device which is secured to his fore arm just below his elbow.
Dennis, seen in this video using the prosthesis to deliver a very well struck ball.
Here are a few golfers on the green displaying their putting skills. Dennis is the first of three golfers on the green that shows the line to follow.
John is the second with a nice up hill putt with good speed and tempo.
Third is a member of John's team with another great putt that barely missed the cup.
Steve and his fiancee playing golf together on the same team in the practice round.
