2009 Commemorates A Century Of Dedication!
Members, friends and special guests travelled from Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville and other parts of the country rallying together in record numbers to participate in the 6th Annual Alumni Cup Golf Tournament held at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course and Club on October 9th in Tallahassee, Florida. [Below are photos taken of only a few of the 180+ golfers that played in this scramble golfing event.]
Play began at 8:30 am and though the course was extremely foggy, all were in high spirits after being able to warm-up by hitting a few practice balls on the range and putting greens. Everyone was in their carts, ready to go, when the starter sounded the alarm. President/CEO Scott Atwellof the FSU Alumni Association gave the commencement address thanking all the sponsors and players for their generosity in supporting such a worthy cause.
[Scott (l-t) seen here at the podium in front of the club house during his address. Members of his dedicated staff (r-t) which include Jennifer, Tara, Mandi, Kathleen and Whitney (l-r) who worked tirelessly and put in countless hours to make this event a huge success.] Tee time at the 6th Annual FSU Alumni Cup Golf Tournament. Lets Play Golf!Golfing team-mates take time for a last minute team picture before heading out to the course.
Golfers below head to their various tee locations throughout the course to begin the best ball scramble on a very foggy Friday morning in Florida's beautiful capital: Here are a couple of videos (below) taken when golfers were teeing off at about 8:30 am, showing just how foggy it was. Keith (below) seen here in the red cap and black shirt on the tee making his way down the dog leg to the right on the 10th hole.
Gordon's (r) group which include fellow team-mates Michael (red shirt & cap), Mike (burgundy shirt no cap) and Al seen here taking a few moments for a very important call on his cell (r-l).
Michael (below) from ibuyusedgolfclubs.com in the red cap and shirt on the 1st tee making his way through the heavy fog. Jeffrey, (below) one of the FSU PGM students (assisting on the first hole) giving us all a taste of his smooth swing and powerful driving ability.
Team-mates Mark, Scott, Cory and Steve (l-r) pose for a photo after scoring well on hole #1. Mark and Cory seen (below) hitting onto the green with their chip shots which helped deliver that low score. This group of golfers started the tournament teeing off on the 18th hole because of the shot gun format.
Additional golf course highlights from the coverage of this event, captures the fun and showcases the amazing talent from members of the golfing community that participated.
Golfers Steve, Andy and Tom share a picture perfect moment with fellow team-mate Lon after making some great putts on the green of the 15th hole.
Lon, seen in this video (below) almost gets to the bottom of the cup from 25 feet away. While Steve too almost got it in from the same distance away.
Third place winners take time out of their busy game schedule to share a moment with PGM Coach and Tallahassee Democrat sports columnist Ernie Landford and Joooorge to pose for this photo. Ken, Joooorge, Richard, Ernie and Thornton (l-r). (Thanks gentlemen for allowing Golfbytez to use this photo and videos on our website.) Great job you guys.
These three golfers did a splendid job driving and making some great shots all day long: Ken is in the video below on the 5th tee box. Richard seen here (below) also on the 5th tee box with a great drive. Thornton (below) also on the 5th tee box tearing the cover off the ball.
Well, Well, Well! It's Hot Diggity Dog Time.Golfers from various teams took a break and enjoyed a nice juicy hot dog or two or three or four... Golfbytez would like to thank Mathew, one of the PGM students assigned to the 4th hole, for being such a good sport. Not only did Mathew show us how well he hits the golf ball, but also by being a steward of the PGM program in demonstrating what hospitality is all about. NOW!Watch As Mathew takes no prisoners by attacking his "closest to the pin" shot.Nice swing Mathew!
